When one thinks about Bali what most definitely first comes to mind is its gorgeous beaches. No wonder major Balinese cities like Seminyak, Kuta, and Nusa Dua never run out of tourists who wish to enjoy the wonderful scenery of Bali beaches. It’s almost a crime to not visit the beaches while you’re in Bali. Most of my past trips to Bali typically involved water sports activities – I never stayed too far from beach area. But last December, my man and I decided to spend four days in Ubud, a town located in the mountains – an hour drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport. Ubud isn’t as crowded as other places and it has a cooler weather, which is a huge plus for me as I couldn’t stand being in too much heat.
We picked Wapa di Ume Resort and Spa to stay at. I had always been wanting to come here and see if this resort was truly as beautiful as it looked in pictures. It helped that there was a promo going on at the time I booked our suite, this gave me the reassurance that we made the right choice to stay at the resort.
Upon our arrival I immediately knew I was going to love this place. The ambiance of the main lobby screamed zen all the way and the staff’s warm welcome added that extra pleasantness into the experience. We had to take a buggy to get to our room because it was midnight and we got a few carry-ons. We rode passed along a large paddy field, gardens, as well as few blocks of suites. I was also told that most foods served at the resort are fresh from the garden!
When we got to our room, once again, we were in awe of what we saw. I don’t think I had ever stayed at a resort this pretty. It’s a spacious room for two anddd we got our own pool! Yes, a pool! And excuse me for saying this but the washroom is also worth mentioning (lol lol). It’s freaking large and CLEAN! You have to know, my biggest pet peeve is public washroom, including hotel washroom so the fact that I was impressed by their washroom is bizarre. Anyways, being a total tourist that I was, I knew I had to take pictures of every corner of the room. Pardon moi.
We spent the next three days relaxing at the resort, taking advantage of the facilities they had to offer. One thing you have to know about this resort is, they don’t provide TV at all rooms which was fine by me, but for my man it was a downside. We enjoyed our stay nevertheless! My favorite time during our stay gotta be breakfast time. At Wapa you wouldn’t regret waking up early in the morning because,
1) you get to enjoy morning stroll around the resort (guaranteed),
2) they have superb breakfast, and
3) you’ll have breakfast with a million dollar view!!
My favorite spots at the resort gotta be their pools (aside from our own pool). They have two pools located at different areas and both overlook the view of jungle. In other words, pure bliss. Coming from Jakarta, a metropolitan city with no pleasurable view other than high-rise buildings, to see a place so green and tranquil was like a privilege.
Wapa di Ume was so great it was pretty hard to leave the place. Leaving Bali in general was difficult because Bali has always felt more like home to me than Jakarta ever did. But I gotta do what I gotta do.
Bali, you truly are a paradise on earth.
Stay tuned for my next Bali post! xo
